Resist Resolutely, Get American Invaders out of Vietnam
English Translation: "Resist Resolutely, Get American Invaders out of Vietnam"
Since at least the 1940s the Vietnamese Communist Party had closely followed the line of its more prominent ally, the Chinese Communist Party. The two cooperated extensively until Vietnam began to hew a more independent line after the ugliness of the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution. Despite this, China made a strong show of opposing what it termed American imperialism in Vietnam, especially given the close proximity of American and allied anti-communist forces to its borders. In this poster, two peasant irregulars can be seen in what is presumed to be the Vietnamese jungle with rifles and grenades. Ironically, soon afterward in 1979, China itself invaded Vietnam over its displeasure with Vietnamese meddling in Cambodia.
