Mao Badge 2
Chairman Mao Badges were mass produced in China during the period of Mao Zedong's leadership of the Communist Party in a variety of materials, including plastic, metal, bamboo and porcelain. By the time of the Cultural Revolution, they were worn by virtually everyone in society at the time, from the elite of the Communist Party on down to small children - except for those branded class enemies, who were forbidden to. Typically, the badges feature an image of Chairman Mao in profile with revolutionary iconography and slogans in the background. In this badge, Chairman Mao can be seen standing on a mountaintop with rivers stretching away in the background towards distant mountains, while a large red sun rises in the east. The text commemorates the 20th Anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1969.
